Featured Story UBR and Communion Offer UBR members opportunities for gigs
The Unsigned Band Review have teamed up with one the UK's best promoters (not to mention record label) Communion to launch an exclusive competition giving you the opportunity to open one of their three forthcoming monthly club nights in London, Leeds, and Brighton. Communion was born in the summer of 2006 at Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Cherbourg) and producer Ian Grimble, it grew into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provided a platform for the newest bands on London's circuit. The night has seen the likes of Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, JJ Pistolet and Peggy Sue grace the stage. As well as this, it helped spawn the careers of artists such as Esser, The Holloways and Example, in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for. In 2009 after regular sell out nights, Communion was asked to be on the committee for the Camden Crawl and launched a sister night in Brighton, first at the Hanbury Ballrooms and then at Audio. There are now also club nights at the Library in Leeds. Communion are on the look-out for three unsigned bands to kick-off one of each of these nights in February. They are partnering with The Unsigned Band Review in the hunt for these three acts and are searching for as eclectic range of submissions as possible. We are asking unsigned bands to submit a single Mp3 and simple line of concise text to describe your overall sound (featuring no more than ten words) to the following email address - info@unsignedbandreview.com. Entrants must be signed up as a UBR member to be considered for this competition. Ben, Ian and Kevin from Communion will then listen to all the demos. Just before Christmas, Monday, 21st December to be precise. The Unsigned Band Review will then announce the three bands selected by the Communion committee. These three bands/ artists will not only get a chance to open one of the four Communion nights in February (dependent on band location) but they will also be announced on the Communion website with interview features and cross-promoted via an external PR agencies to over 1000 online editors and bloggers. Post-performance each band will also be invited to write a guest blog for UBR and Communion on their experiences.
