 I styled the band ‘The Doppler shift'. I wikipedia-ed their name only to understand the scientific process translated into pretty arrangements of circles - the band were obviously technology geeks as well as musical geniuses.

Before the Gibson Lounge bash, the four of us pondered ideas over email. Was it to be a 1950's kitchen backdrop, slurping Lady Grey in bone china or a Camden Town greasy spoon with pies, mash and jellied eels?

It became apparent that the boys from Weezer were a good reflection of the band's geeky, tongue-in-cheek personalities. It was evident that the Doppler Shift would not need, nor choose, to be squeezed via skinny jeans into ‘razors of light'.

For the band's attire, I took inspiration from the preppy American style, contacting vintage havens POP Boutique and Rokit. Matt, with his infectious giggle, pulled off a tweed blazer with black lace detailing, turn up denims and trusty Converse. Russ modestly fashioned New Balance trainers and a rockabilly check shirt from POP boutique. Joe's 36inch ‘pins-to-die-for' were adorned with ripped All Saints embraced denim and in true gravelly-voiced lead singer style pulled off an ox blood leather blazer.

The whole event was intimate and inspiring. Although the styling for the band was relaxed; the boys stood out in their performance as confident and comfortable therefore I felt my contribution was successful. We hope to finish a location shoot once we've battled it out between the teapot and the savaloy; meanwhile they remain amongst my most played!
